Ōhiwa Oyster Festival – Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to all ticket purchases and attendance at the Ōhiwa Oyster Festival.
1. Ticketing
- All tickets must be purchased through the official ticketing platform.
- Standard tickets are non-refundable except as required by New Zealand consumer law or under the event’s postponement or cancellation policy.
- Ticket holders who purchase a Refundable Ticket Upgrade are entitled to refunds in accordance with the upgrade provider’s terms and conditions.
- Tickets may be transferred to another person but cannot be resold for profit (scalping).
- E-tickets must be presented at the gate for scanning. Screenshots are accepted if clearly visible.
- Lost or misplaced tickets can be resent via the ticketing system.
2. Event Entry
- Entry is permitted only with a valid ticket and wristband.
- All attendees may be subject to bag checks upon entry.
- No outside beverages, alcohol, drugs, weapons, or hazardous items are permitted.
- The festival reserves the right to refuse entry to any individual who is intoxicated, aggressive, or poses a safety risk.
3. Age & Supervision
- Children under 12 require a Child ticket and must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
- Attendees wishing to purchase or consume alcohol must be 18+ and present valid ID.
4. Festival Conduct
- Respect for staff, vendors, performers, and other attendees is required at all times.
- Anti-social behaviour, harassment, or non-compliance with staff instructions may result in removal without refund.
- Smoking and vaping are not permitted within the main festival area - there will be designated areas.
- Only certified service animals are allowed on site. No pets.
5. Weather, Postponement & Cancellation
- This is an outdoor event. The festival will proceed in light rain.
- If severe weather or safety concerns arise, the festival may move to the backup date of Saturday 23 May 2026.
- If the backup date is used, all tickets remain valid.
- If the event is cancelled entirely, ticket holders may receive a refund (excluding booking fees) in accordance with the ticketing agent’s policies.
6. Accessibility
- The festival includes a mixture of paved and grassed areas. Some areas may be uneven.
- Limited mobility parking and accessible toilets will be available.
- If you require special assistance, please contact the festival team prior to the event.
7. Food, Beverage & Purchasing
- Alcohol may only be purchased and consumed within the licensed festival area.
- Some vendors may have limited EFTPOS access. Bringing a small amount of cash is recommended.
8. Health & Safety
- Attendees must follow all health and safety instructions provided by festival staff, security, and signage.
- In the event of an emergency, please follow the directions of festival staff and move calmly to the designated safe area.
- By entering the festival, attendees accept personal responsibility for their own safety and belongings.
9. Photography & Media
- Photography and videography may be taken throughout the event.
- By attending, you grant permission for your image to be used in festival promotional material, unless you notify staff at the gate.
10. Liability
- The festival, its organisers, staff, and partners are not responsible for loss, injury, damage, or theft unless caused by negligence.
- Attendees are responsible for their personal items and are encouraged to keep valuables secure.
- The festival schedule, vendors, performers, and activities are subject to change without notice.
- No refunds will be provided due to programme changes or vendor withdrawal.
12. Waste Management and Environment
- The Ōhiwa Oyster Festival is committed to being a low-waste, environmentally responsible event.
- Attendees are expected to use the recycling, compost, and general waste stations provided and follow the directions on signage.
- Please help keep Port Ōhope Wharf clean by disposing of rubbish responsibly.
- Anyone found littering or damaging the environment may be asked to leave the event.
